Most central air conditioners are connected to a forced-air distribution system in the house. Therefore, the same motor, fan, and ducts used for heating are used to distribute cold air from the air conditioning system. When the central air conditioner is running, the hot air in the house enters the oven through the return air duct. The fan moves the hot air through the coil of the cooling evaporator to the plenum and then sends it through the ducts to cool the house. When the air conditioner is on but the house is not cooling, the problem is probably in the distribution system.


What does air conditioning repair mean?

It is a process of removing heat and moisture from a crowded space to increase passenger comfort. The air conditioner can be used in domestic and commercial environments.


How to repair an air conditioner that does not blow cold air


1. Air filter:


The most common cause of window air conditioners that do not blow cold air is lack of air circulation. In a properly functioning air conditioner, the fan blows air through the evaporator coils, where it cools and returns to the room. If the air filter is dirty or clogged, the evaporator coils may not circulate very much, which can cool them and create ice or ice, which further restricts flow 'air. 

This will cause little or no cold air to enter the room. The air filter is usually located behind the front grille which may have a side opening. If the evaporator coils are heavily soiled, clean them with soap and water, and you will need a soft brush. Therefore, we recommend that you change the filter.


2. Fan motor and fan:


If your air conditioner does not blow cold air on the window, the problem may be with the fan or fan motor. In a functional air conditioner, the fan draws air through the cold coils of the evaporator and returns the air to the room. If the circulation fan is not running or running very slowly, little or no airflow through the evaporator coils will allow it to cool too much and may cause ice or freezing, further limiting airflow 'air. 


The fan and motor are inside, so you will need to remove the case for any checks. Make sure that the fan motor rotates smoothly and that the blades are not damaged. If the engine is stuck or the fan blades are damaged, they must be replaced. If the engine turns easily, it may still be faulty or not receiving power from the controls. These tests are more complex and should be performed by a qualified person familiar with the use of a multimeter.


3. Temperature control:


If your air conditioner is not blowing cold air, and you have carefully inspected the air filter and blower motor, there may be a problem with the temperature control or thermostat. It is a device that controls the temperature of the air entering and turning the compressor on or off. 


Typically, a sensor lamp connected to the control extends away from the evaporator coil and a set of electrical contacts on the control body that supplies the compressor circuit. The lamp monitors the ambient air temperature and tells the thermostat to start the compressor when the set temperature is lower than the ambient temperature. The thermostat also shuts off the compressor when the desired temperature is reached. 


If the temperature controller or thermostat is faulty, the compressor may not work and may not cool down. Inspect the sensor lamp for signs of bending, bending, or breaking and replace the command if necessary. You can also check the continuity of the order with the multimeter by turning the wheel to the lowest setting.  Before rejecting the command, make sure that the sensor bulb is properly positioned in the airflow through the evaporator coils.


4. Electronic control panel or printed circuit board assembly:


If your air conditioner is not blowing fresh air and you have carefully inspected the filter and fan motor, you may have a problem with the control panel, sometimes called a PCB. This control panel, connected to the thermistor, controls the temperature of the air entering and turning the compressor on or off according to the selected temperature. The thermistor is connected to the control panel and will extend to the front of the evaporator coil. If the control panel is defective, it may not supply the compressor and will not cool down. First, inspect the thermistor for signs of damage or corrosion before turning off the control panel.


5. Capacitor:


If your air conditioner is not blowing cold air, the problem may be in the compressor circuit. Most windowed air conditioners use a condenser to help start the compressor. If the condenser fails, the compressor will not start and the fan will only blow hot air. Some window air conditioners also use a working condenser in the fan motor circuit and generally combine two units in the same box. The compressor and condenser are located inside the cabinet and access will require removal of the cover. If the capacitor shows no visible signs of damage, it must be checked by a qualified person with special test equipment. Make sure the replacement capacitor has the same specifications as the original.


6. Thermistor:


If your air conditioner does not blow cold air and you have carefully inspected the air filter and fan motor, there may be a problem with the thermistor. This component is in electronically controlled models and controls the intake air temperature and requires the main control panel to turn the compressor on or off. The unit is usually located in the airflow near the evaporator coil. If the thermistor is defective, it will not supply the control panel with the correct signal to activate the compressor circuit. Replace the thermistor if it shows signs of damage or corrosion.
